Tache Home was founded in 1999 by Ms. Elizabeth (Liz) Chitundu who has dedicated her life to ensuring a future for others. This is not an orphanage as such – it is a loving and nurturing home where all the children are looked after as if they are all family and they will remain there until they leave for work or get married. The children have come from hospices, through the local authorities and information from concerned individuals. Liz and the children do their utmost to raise money for their own keep. They grow maize, potatoes, groundnuts, and raise chickens for their own food and for sale. They make beaded jewelry, grow plants and make cakes, rent out chairs and catering equipment and have a little stall selling produce and homemade jams outside their house or at fairs. Generally the children are older and require assistance for their educational needs including secondary school and a few moving on to college, plus the daily resources to feed, cloth, and provide necessities to the children in the home.
